Custom Glazed Cabinet Refinishing Project

The homeowner specifically asked that the new finish match the existing cabinet color. We used our professional color matching process to reproduce the requested tone before any finishing began. That ensured the final glaze and topcoats would coordinate with the rest of the kitchen.

Before glazing, the cabinets went through an extensive refinishing process. Each piece was thoroughly cleaned and degreased to remove oils and contaminants. Once the base coats were complete, we applied a van-dyke brown glaze from General Finishes to accent the profiles and recesses of the doors, drawer fronts and crown moldings. The glaze was hand applied to control how much color collected in each crevice, creating the subtle contrast and depth that defines a patina or pinstripe glaze finish. Hand application lets us emphasize trim lines and ornate details without covering flat surfaces.
